Sustainability in action: 100% at one with nature at the Klimahotel Südtirol
Nature is a gift from heaven. Beautiful, but extremely fragile. We can't just take from it, but must also give something back if we want to preserve it for our children. Growing up in close contact with nature, we have always had a great respect for it. Having realized early on that we owe a lot to our wonderful natural environment – not only as inhabitants of this earth, but also as hotel operators. Therefore, we have always done everything in our power to preserve this unique habitat for people, animals, and plants as we found it. This conviction has been the foundation for designing our climate hotel in South Tyrol for sustainability since its inception.
As early as 1988, long before sustainability was a buzzword, our sustainable hotel in South Tyrol was awarded the South Tyrolean Ecolabel. From the very beginning, we have consistently committed ourselves to active environmental protection and are doing everything in our power to achieve this. Over the years, we have converted our heating system to an environmentally friendly wood chip system, which has been awarded the Tyrolean Ecolabel. A ventilation system with heat recovery is just as much a given for us as a charging station for electric cars in our parking lot. The energy we need for our hotel comes from our own photovoltaic system and the Tiers hydroelectric power plant.
Our commitment to the environment and nature has also been confirmed by Earthcheck, the world's leading environmental certification and benchmarking program for the tourism and travel industry, with the Earthcheck Silver certificate.
In nature. For nature.
The comprehensive sustainability concept of our hotel at the Rosengarten is also reflected in our architecture. The building not only blends harmoniously into its surroundings, but was constructed exclusively with environmentally friendly materials, such as local stone and natural wood. For this, and for the building's high energy efficiency, the Cyprianerhof received the highest certification, "KlimaHaus Gold Nature," in 2016.
Keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible also plays a major role in our hotel's kitchen. Vegetables from the Untergamperhof, strawberries from the Schmiedhof in the Passeier Valley, milk from the Merano region, regional meat suppliers, and apples exclusively from South Tyrolean apple growers – we place great importance on working with local producers. We are also fully committed to sustainability in our wellness area. All beauty products are made in South Tyrol, using essences found only in this unique natural landscape. By the way: Here, you bathe in clear Dolomite spring water. Thanks to our modern salt electrolysis system, we can completely eliminate all additives, such as chlorine.
At the Cyprianerhof, we are setting new standards for sustainable hospitality in South Tyrol by continuously striving to minimize our impact on the environment while raising awareness of climate-friendly practices. As a pioneer in the field of climate-friendly hotels in South Tyrol, we go beyond traditional sustainability concepts and integrate innovative technologies and sustainable solutions into every aspect of our operations.
